Anastasija Olescuka (she/her) is based in Copenhagen, and is the artistic director of the company Hexis Quatrix. With roots in folk dance and a BA in sociology, she is a practitioner of street dance whose choreographic practice merges street dance, natural science, and conceptual research. Working across disciplines and generations, she engages in long-term thematic research and creates performances as living laboratories where body, ecology, and identity entangle. Currently Anastasija is doing MFA in choreography at the Danish National School of Performing Arts.&nbsp;Anastasija was born and raised in Latvia (1989) in a family with mixed cultural background - Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian &amp; Polish. At the age of 8 she started dancing in National Folk Dance Ensemle “Ivushka”, that performed all across the country and toured with performances in France, Belgium, Belorussia, Slovenia, Russia, Poland and Baltics. At the age of 16 she started practicing&nbsp; streetdances and at the age of 18 she won Latvian talent award &amp; scholarship “Zelta Zivtina”. She graduated from Latvias Univercity with bachelor degree in Sociology by the age of 21, while one semester was spent in Copenhagen Univercity with additional courses in antropology.&nbsp; In 2012 Anastasija graduated from Hotstepper Dance Education in Copenhagen. She became a member of CLASHcph streetdance organisation that has been providing annual dance festivals and events focusing on local community, legacy of Hip Hop, African - &amp; Latin- American vernacular dances, and intergenerational connections in Nordic and global contexts.&nbsp; Anastasija started producing her own performances at Dansekapellets choreographers platforms and in 2021 choreographed ANTS 1+1=3 that has been touring since. Her choreographic practice fuses street dance, natural science and conceptual research that involves artists and specialists from different fields like biology, photography, music, visual arts and local communities. She is using choreography as a living laboratory where states of body, ecology and identity intertwine. She invites audiences to rethink human patterns of dominance and expand imagination by experiencing dance in a dialogue with other forms of intelligence, as well as always evolving archive of collective memory. Five dancers embody the world of ants, accompanied by music composed by Turkman Souljah. Ants are workers, engineers, warriors, and lovers - they cultivate nature, maintain ecological balance. A superorganism so structured it puts our bureaucracies to shame. By blurring the boundaries between ants and humans, the performance magnifies some of life’s most fundamental themes - survival, community, strength, and belonging - through some of the smallest creatures on Earth. It draws striking parallels to societal debates on gender, crisis, and conflicts.In a time marked by extreme individualism, the performance poses the question: How can creatures that are often perceived as pests inspire us to embrace collective solutions? DANCE WORKSHOPSWe offer dance workshops focused on collaboration, collective intelligence, and insect-inspired movement. Participants get the chance to physically experience how the choreography was created. We also offer workshops in street dance styles such as Hip Hop, House, and Popping. Workshops can be tailored to youth, adults, experienced dancers, and beginners alike. LECTUREA lecture on the complex societies of ants, their role in ecological systems, and the surprising parallels to human structures—led by Senior Researcher Hans Joachim Offenberg from Aarhus University.The lecture can be held in connection with the performance and gives the audience a unique insight into the research that inspired the piece. The ant is a worker, engineer, warrior and lover. It both cultivates nature, maintains biological order and is willing to die for the community. A superorganism and an organized society that makes the Scandinavian welfare state look like pure anarchy. The story of the life of the ants is the story of the very large themes in small sizes. On stage, five dancers with backgrounds in streetdance, clubdance, voguing, martial arts &amp; contemporary that put body and movement on the world of ants.
